Here are my suggestions for revamping the All Star Game: Build into every MLB contract a clause that rewards a large bonus ($200k?) to players who make the All Star Game and PLAY. Double the bonus to the winning team. Money talks. As far as who gets elected--the fans are stupid, and the players and coaches aren't much smarter. I'd use some statistical criteria to drive who makes the team. The top three at each position in WARP, for example. And for G-d's sake, the All Star Game should have absolutely no bearing on home field advantage in the World Series.mikeyradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17821576788116042337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5768054919785153209.post-26718279300159174012011-07-11T20:50:16.031-07:002011-07-11T20:50:16.031-07:00Yeah, he basically threw that comment back in your...Yeah, he basically threw that comment back in your face. I mean he has power but maybe partially why he doesn't hit as many in the season is because he isn't supposed to, plus he has a tough slot in the order for getting fastballs. He might have more with A-rod on the DL for a while. I didn't think Weeks would do well, I would have liked to see justin Upton, home town guy and he has insane power.Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06018530367416863780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5768054919785153209.post-64403468646296744302011-07-11T20:08:33.786-07:002011-07-11T20:08:33.786-07:00I regretfully retract my previous comment about Ro...I regretfully retract my previous comment about Robinson Cano, damnitMikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15177153664329844999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5768054919785153209.post-906378229881657932011-07-11T13:53:35.869-07:002011-07-11T13:53:35.869-07:00It seems like every year in the Home Run Derby the...It seems like every year in the Home Run Derby they have one or two players that are not traditional home run hitters come in and give it a shot and usually end up with somewhere between 0 and 2 homers in the first round, Brandon Inge a few years ago is a good example. I think they do it on purpose to make the first round go quicker. Robinson Cano, cmon he's like the 5th best home run hitter on his own team. Rickie Weeks? Also as much as I love him, Adrian Gonzalez is not a traditional home run hitter either, but I'm interested to see how he will do tonight.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15177153664329844999noreply@blogger.com
